Alternate Energy Sources – energy sources that do not use fossil fuels to produce energy.
Wind power – wind turbines harness the wind and produce energy.
Solar power – solar panels take sunlight and turn it into energy.
Hydro (water) power – the movement of water is used to create energy.
Manure – trap methane gas to produce energy.
Land Reclamation – remove all of the toxic water, soil, land etc. and try to restore the land to its natural state by adding soil and planting vegetation etc.
Environmental Impact – the effects that oil sands project will have on the earth, wildlife, air, water, vegetation etc.
Economic Impact – the effects of the oil sands on the economy (money system): jobs, money, government spending, goods and services etc. The more job opportunities people have the more money they can spend.
Health Risks – the negative effects that something could have on your body or health (physically or mentally).
Quality of life – how well a person is living or their personal satisfaction. Good quality of life: personal satisfaction, financially stable (can buy what you need and many of your wants), healthy, happy, family, education etc. Poor quality of life: unhappy, unhealthy, financial problems, etc.
Cultural Impacts – the effects something has on a person or groups culture. Culture can be religion, personal beliefs or traditions, celebrations and events, language, clothing, common history, legends, ethnicity and country of origin.
