Remember that upcycling is different from recycling or repurposing.
Recycling: convert waste into reusable materials (i.e. recycling a plastic water bottle into new plastic for a new bottle.
Repurpose: Adapt for use for a different purpose (i.e. use a jam jar to hold coins)
Upcycling: reuse discarded objects (waste) in such a way that they increase in value or quality (turning M&M wrappers into a designer purse)
Upcycling is not using waste for a craft that you will keep for a week, then throw away. It is making something more useful or valuable out of waste.
Use the following links to help you find an upcycling project. Keep in mind some of the examples may be just repurposed or made into craft. Keep the upcycling definition in mind as you choose your project. Feel free to look on other sites as well. Be sure that the materials are readily available or easy to get, and that the process is appropriate for your skill level.
